Pregnant? No Alcohol on St. Patrick’s Day means no FASD for your child.

St Pat Day FASD

If you are pregnant, or planning on becoming pregnant, then please pass on the glass of alcohol today, and for the next nine months of pregnancy, and celebrate with something else instead.

Drinking alcohol while pregnant, can cause your child to be born with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder. FASD is the leading known cause of developmental disabilities. There is no cure. It is a life long condition. It’s not worth the risk.

There are studies to show that even men who consume alcohol may have an effect on the baby. Alcohol consumption affects genes in the sperm which are responsible for normal fetal development. So support your partner, support your child’s future. No alcohol while trying to get pregnant. And no alcohol while pregnant.

If you find you are pregnant, and you or your male partner have consumed alcohol, then speak to your health care provider. Outcomes are better for yourself and your baby with early intervention.

Remember: 049 = no alcohol for nine months.
