Blogging 101 : Title and tag line

Nothing like getting a person to contemplate her entire existence on the second day! I am a day behind so really I am examining myself on the first day.

Today’s challenge is to look at the title of our blog and tag line. Does it reflect who we are and what we do?

My blog name is: Our Sacred Breath. I chose it based on a line in a quote by Nancy Rac, a Jicarrila Apache. I loved how it sounded. As a new student to living mindfully the line: Once ~ we started each day with grateful breaths and grateful thanks for all around us ~ expressed how I am trying to live my life.

This is the post with the quote: http://oursacredbreath.com/2014/03/27/sacred-breath/

It had a tie in that was personal to me – my adopted daughter has First Nations in her. And it was also because of my daughter I started the blog.

My tagline is: finding calm in the chaos of FASD.

My life and blog is about finding the balance or calm in raising a child with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD). FASD is a wild ride (for those with FASD and those supporting the person with FASD). We will lose control if we do not stay centred.

So back to the assignment for day two. Should my title and tag remain the same or change? Today I am going to leave it as it is. Perhaps by the end of this course – if I survive the next 30 days – I will discover a title and tag line more reflective of my blog.

Until then I will remember to breathe and just learn what I can. Accept what I can. And let what I can’t just go. After all, this is what I tell my daughter to do with life. I am living my advice now.

Just wondering if any of my followers has taken this Blogging 101?
Does it get any easier? I remember someone once told me I should learn to be in kindergarten rather than trying to be in Grade 12. (It was actually grade 13, but we do not have a 13 anymore.) I want to be in kindergarten now! I am feeling quite overwhelmed by this.

What about my Blogging 101 blog mates. Are you finding it difficult to navigate? It took me quite some time to figure out how I post – I didn’t realize I would be sharing my struggles on my blog! I am also having a hard time reading a blogging 101 blog post and then going back to the community to make a comment. It seems to take me back to the beginning and I have to scroll through 50 posts or more to get to where I was!

    HI,
I like your title. It’s one of the reasons I stopped to read it. stopping to take a breath is something I believe in yet rarely follow. I’m so new to this, that I didn’t see where to put a comment on that particular post.
    I’m still lost sometimes too.
Good luck I like your insights and think this will be wonderful.

Thanks for stopping by Julie and for the compliment. I really appreciate you taking the time to offer your thoughts! I too really like the name and so I am not certain I could change at this point. Good luck to you with your blog!

Concerning your last question: I found it incredibly helpful to open links from the Commons via righclick in a new tab – then there’s no need to go back and reload the Commons and scroll until you find the original post. Hope that helps 🙂

Looking forward to read more from you!
